Health Literacy

Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre, 551 Windermere Rd, London, Ontario, N5X 2T1

Health Literacy refers to a person’s ability to access, understand and act on health related information. In Canada, 60 % of adults have low health literacy skills including 88% of seniors. Personal factors as well as the complexity of the message and the health professional’s ability to communicate clearly are all important contributing factors.

It is essential that everyone in the health care system recognize their responsibility to use clear and effective communication skills in order to affect health outcomes. This workshop provides participants with tools and opportunities to practice skills and problem solve around barriers.

The Health Literacy program is offered by the South West CCAC in partnership with the South West LHIN.

*You will receive an email one week prior to the workshop with the location information.*
